HMAS Arafura: The lead ship in Australia’s twelve (12) Offshore Patrol Vessels (OPV) being built.  Subsequent OPVs have been named as:

HMAS Eyre,
HMAS Pilbara,
HMAS Gippsland,
HMAS Illawarra, and
HMAS Carpentaria.

The names of the remaining six (6) OPVs are to be announced on a date yet to be nominated. 

The artwork for these ships’ badges is yet to be publicly released and subsequently not yet available to us.  However, when released we shall commence manufacture of accurate 1/6th scale 3 dimensional (3D) rendered representations of the ships’ badges.  We manufacture in Brisbane and each badge is a custom-crafted product and hand-painted. 

We are currently experimenting with automotive enamels to achieve better matches with the Royal Australian Navy colour specifications and a more durable finish. The badge is cast using a two-pack polyurethane media, which is extremely durable and should never break.

It is most often mounted on a Navy Board (Std) or Navy Board – (3 point shield) shaped timber plaque, stained in rich walnut with a high gloss finish. There is a keyway routed into the back of the board for wall/bulkhead mounting.

We are happy to personalise your plaques by engraving the Rank/Rate, first or nickname, family/surname, and service number on the reverse of each plaque.
